New year new victories

There are just few days until the end of 2017. It is a good time to look around what we have done all year long and to prepare ourselves for excitement that New Year brings. One of most important events for lacrosse in Serbia is going to be Zombies cup 2018 from April 13th to 15th in Belgrade at FC BASK stadium near Belgrade Hippodrome. We are glad that the clubs from all over the Europe are very interested for our tournament. We are glad that we will see some of teams that regularly participate in our tournament, but also some new ones that will enter their first participation. In any case, we are expecting a lot of nice games. As we promised, we prepared some new things. Beside lacrosse clubs on next year Zombies cup we will have chance to see few national lacrosse teams that recognized our tournament as great opportunity to prepare for the European Championship next year in Israel. The other news is that beside man’s teams we will have woman’s teams that will participate on tournament. The Belgrade Zombies don’t give up from their primary goal, which is development of lacrosse, so we decided to join the development of the woman’s team, Belgrade Zombies. Which clubs and national teams will come on tournament? We’ll tell you next year. Happy New Year!

As winter time and cold days draw near, and with them the end of this year’s season of Lacrosse, everybody is planning their travels for the next year as well as tournaments they would like to visit either on their own or with a team. With this in mind, we have decided to open registrations for the new edition of Zombies Cup – one of the largest field Lacrosse tournaments in this part of Europe, played each year in Belgrade, Serbia.

Ever since we started organizing this tournament, we had the idea of offering a quality (FIFA licensed) field, to schedule it when the weather is just perfect for Lacrosse, to both foster growth by providing more opportunities for clubs to play matches and to raise the quality of teams and matches at the same time. Not to mention the appeal of our city as a growing tourist hotspot, with vibrant night life, reasonable prices, beautiful architecture and buzzing lifestyle (seriously, where else can you find city streets buzzing with life a bit less than 24 hours a day, especially so on weekends?). Use the opportunity to visit a city inhabited since the ancient times, overflowing with history and welcoming people always willing to help you see the best our city has to offer.

Belgrade Zombies are the first and largest Lacrosse club in Serbia, working tirelessly on growing our sport of Lacrosse in our country. Majority of its players make up the bulk of the Serbian National Box Lacrosse Team, with experience of playing at World and European Championships, fostering sportsmanship and friendship between members of our international family of Lacrosse players and fans.

We can’t wait to welcome you and host you during April 13-15, 2018 weekend for the Zombies Cup tournament, whether you are coming for the first time or if you are an old friend who already visited us and played Lacrosse with or against us. This year we are expecting a strong showing of teams from across Europe and hopefully other parts of the world as well, so register early to make sure you don’t miss this memorable experience.

Približava se kraj jedne uspešne godine za srpski lakros. U 2017. godini Srpski lakros savez uz pomoć Beogradskih Zombija uspeo je mnogo toga da uradi. Premijerno je organizovana Srpska lakros liga koja je završena osvajanjem prvog mesta od strane Beogradskih Zombija. Naša lakros reprezentacija učestvovala je na turniru E-BOX 2017 održanom u Pragu u organizaciji Evropske lakros federacije u sklopu priprema za po prvi put održano Evropsko prvenstvo u boks lakrosu u Finskoj. Na prvenstvu evrope naša reprezentacija je zauzela 8. mesto i potvrdila da se nalazi u samom vrhu evropskog lakrosa i tom prilikom iza sebe ostavila mnogo razvijene lakros zemlje.

Svi ovi uspesi i razvoj lakrosa na ovim prostorima ne bi bili mogući bez najznačajnijeg turnira na prostoru jugoistočne evrope Zombi kupa. Nakon 7 uspešno organizovanih turnira i sledeće godine otprilike u isto vreme kao i prethodnih godina održaće se Zombi kup 2018. Kao i svake godine turnir će se održati na terenima fudbalskog kluba BASK, kod Hipodroma, u periodu od 13. do 15. Aprila 2018. godine. Iako je tek nedavno objavljen tačan datum održavanja turnira već unapred se nekoliko timova pa i reprezentacija prijavilo da učestvuju na ovom turniru.

Zombi kup je od strane evropske lakros zajednice prepoznat kao jedan od kvalitetnijih turnira o čemu govori i podatak da se svake godine sve veći broj timova iz čitave evrope prijavljuje za učešće na njemu. Prepoznat je i kao odličan turnir za razvoj novih igrača što posebno raduje jer je jedan od osnovnih motiva organizovanja ovog turnira razvoj lakrosa u Srbiji i celom ragionu Balkana pa i šire. Kao značajan evropski turnir prepoznat je od Evropske lakros federacije.

Da bi turnir nastavio da „raste“ u organizacionom smislu, organizatori se iz godine u godinu trude da publici i igračima ponude dodatan sadržaj. Za Zombi kup 2018 spremili su dosta interesantnih stvari… Vidimo se u Aprilu.

Sunday 02.11.2014. what a day for lacrosse in Serbia. For the first time in history, poles were crossed by two teams from Serbia, Belgrade Zombies and our very young and promising team Phantom s Novi Sad. We wish to thank all those who have stood by us and made a great effort for this to be possible. See you soon.
